Brian Minto, rising heavyweight star of the big boy division is climbing the heavyweight ladder and leaving a path of fallen foe behind him. From a collegiate football player, to a cable company worker, all the way to the national spot light this heavyweight hopeful is electrifying the fight fans with some of the most intense highlight reels a fight can offer. Always ready for a throw down, always ready to entertain, and is now prepared to storm the division and earn the title of heavyweight champion of the world.
The former high school football stand out competed as a NCAA collegiate football player as a line backer attending Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, PA. After dabbing in the 'sweet science' as a youngster and the college years of school ended for Brian in 1996 he went back to the amateur class and began fighting once more. When his stint in the amateurs were complete compiling a 15-3 record the twenty-eight year old Minto stepped in the professional ranks in 2002 knocking out the West Virginian Leroy Loscar in the second round.
The busy boxer threw down on nine occasions in 2003 and the same went for '04, but 2004 would be a break out year for the Butler born brawler, in April of that year Minto defeated Jeremy Bates earning himself the vacant West Virginia State Heavyweight title. Flying under the radar as just another prospect was about to change for Minto as he climbed through the ropes on a hot July night at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, NJ stepping in against the once beaten rough and tough New Yorker Vincent Maddalone in what is considered now as a classic with Minto getting up off the canvas in the first round to wage war against the power puncher for ten rounds, behind on the score cards Brian caught Maddalone with a vicious right hand that put Maddalone down on the canvas and out for the count.
December of '04 Minto would fall to his one and only defeat facing off against the former heavyweight champion Tony Tubbs losing out by a close split decision, a disappointing loss by the champion hearted fighter that he is picked up and went back to the winning business. Just ten months after their first unforgettable meeting Brian went toe to toe once again against Vinny Maddalone beating out his foe this time in seven rounds in what was once again a TV friendly fight.
2006 has begun on a high note for the rising star soon to be heavyweight contender, twice this year Minto banged out wins on ESPN 2, first he pounded out an eight round unanimous decision victory over the tough journeyman Billy Zumbrun, and early this summer Brian went head to head against the once beaten Danny Batchelder out punching, out working and out classing him in ten rounds winning via ten round unanimous decision. In his last outing August 11th at the Mountaineer Race track in Chester, WV Minto destroyed the tough all around journeyman Andy Sample in just 37 seconds of the first round rocking dropping and stopping Sample with a four punch combination to the body putting the Kansas native to sleep with a ferocious finishing uppercut.
Proving to be relentless throughout his heavyweight journey the "All American Heavyweight" traveled into hostile territory November 25th, 2005 in Halle, Germany and took out the 12,000 screaming biased fans as well as their beloved German born boxer Axel Schulz with a six round TKO victory. Giving up a four inches in height Brian was out jabbed in the opening round, but soon after the Butler boxer took control utilizing solid body work to slow Schulz down.
Minto battered bruised and bloodied Schulz dropping Axel in the fourth round and after an answered assault on Schulz the ref jumped in to save the beaten giant in the sixth round giving Minto a hard earned well deserving win. Minto again traveled back to Germnay battling the rough and tough Luan Krasniqi losing out unanimously, but the Beast has his sites set on a succesful return.
All though the heavyweight stand out has found success in the ring and is projected to continue to do so the brightest accolade in his life has been his wife of five years Heidi, and his two beautiful children. The devoted family man and devout Christian looks onward to providing for his family using the 'sweet science' as his profession to put food on the table, and in the process of his duties as a man, the husband, father, fighter, former football stand out and cable company worker looks to tack on the title as world champion as well.
Stay tuned!
